Integration Fund Programme (Department of Justice, Home Affairs and Migration)

At Blackwater Training, we believe that integration starts with opportunity.

Pathways to Employment is a targeted training programme designed to support migrants, refugees, and people seeking international protection to build the skills, confidence, and knowledge needed to access employment and participate fully in life in Ireland.

Funded by the Department of Justice, Home Affairs and Migration through Scheme A of the 2025 Integration Fund, this programme focuses on practical, real-world outcomes. It is designed specifically for people living in rural communities, where access to training, services, and employment opportunities can be more limited.

What the programme offers

This is a hands-on, supportive learning experience that combines language development, digital skills, and employability training.

Participants will:

  • Improve their English for everyday life and the workplace
  • Develop digital skills, including using tools like Canva for CVs and job applications
  • Learn how to search for jobs, apply for roles, and prepare for interviews
  • Build confidence in communicating with employers and services
  • Understand how the Irish workplace works, including rights and responsibilities

The programme is delivered in small groups, with a strong focus on participation, peer support, and practical application.

Who is it for

This programme is primarily open to:

  • People seeking international protection (IPAs) 

Additional training spaces are available for: 

  • Refugees and migrants living in the local community Beneficiaries of Temporary Protection (BOTPs)
  • Refugees and migrants living in the local community

No previous experience is required. We meet learners where they are and support them to progress at their own pace.

Why it matters

For many people, the biggest barriers to employment are not ability, but access, confidence, and opportunity.

This programme aims to:

  • Reduce isolation in rural areas
  • Support economic independence
  • Build confidence and self-belief
  • Create clear pathways into employment, education, and training

  • Location: Blackwater Training, Bailieborough Business Centre, Bailieborough, Co. Cavan. 
  • Duration: Multiple short courses delivered throughout the year
  • Cost: Free of charge
  • Participant supports: Available (including travel supports where possible)
