Pathways to Participation: Empowering Migrants through Employment, Enterprise, and Anti-Racism Education
Pathways to Participation is a community-based programme designed to support migrants and minority ethnic communities to build confidence, understand their rights, and take an active role in shaping the communities they live in.
Funded through the Ireland Against Racism Fund 2025, this programme focuses on tackling racism, promoting inclusion, and creating safe, meaningful spaces where people feel heard, respected, and valued.
What this programme is about
For many people, the barriers to participation are not just practical - they are social, cultural, and deeply personal.
Experiences of racism, discrimination, or exclusion can impact confidence, limit opportunities, and reduce engagement in community life.
This programme responds directly to that reality.
It creates space for:
- Open and respectful dialogue
- Shared experiences and lived realities
- Learning about rights, equality, and inclusion
- Building confidence to speak, participate, and lead
What participants will gain
Participants will take part in a series of interactive workshops and activities designed to build both knowledge and confidence.
Through the programme, participants will:
- Explore identity, culture, and belonging in an Irish context
- Learn about their rights and protections under Irish equality legislation
- Develop confidence in communication and self-expression
- Engage in discussions around racism, bias, and inclusion
- Build skills in advocacy, storytelling, and community participation
The approach is practical, supportive, and shaped by the experiences of those taking part.
Who it is for
This programme is open to:
- Migrants, refugees, and people seeking international protection
- Individuals from minority ethnic backgrounds
- Anyone who wants to better understand and challenge racism in their community
No previous experience or qualifications are required. This is a welcoming and inclusive space for all.
Why it matters
