From 1st–10th August 2025, a group of talented and enthusiastic participants from Ireland joined creative minds from across Europe in the small village of Kamień, Poland for The Sound Atlas: Sonic Storytelling, and what an inspiring journey it was!

This Erasmus+ project was all about discovering how sound can tell powerful stories. Over ten days, participants explored:

  • Sound recording & editing – capturing everything from nature's whispers to urban rhythms.

  • Movement & physical theatre – using the body to translate sound into emotion.

  • Improvisation & collaboration – creating original pieces in mixed international teams.

  • Studio sessions – producing unique soundscapes for storytelling projects.

The atmosphere was nothing short of magical – a phone-free, alcohol-free space that encouraged everyone to be fully present. The vegan and vegetarian meals kept us fuelled, and the beautiful natural surroundings offered endless inspiration.

Participants stepped out of their comfort zones, made lasting friendships, and left with not only new skills but also a renewed appreciation for the creative power of sound.

A huge thank you to our hosts, Windmill Tree Foundation, for their warm welcome, and to Erasmus+ for making this experience possible.

We're so proud of our Irish participants who threw themselves into every activity with enthusiasm and openness and we can't wait to see how they bring these skills into their personal and professional lives.
