At Blackwater Training, we believe that young people are experts in their own lives. When it comes to employment, education, and opportunities for the future, their voices matter.

That's why we're currently running a Youth Employability Survey as part of the NextGen Opportunity project, an EU-funded initiative supported under the NextGenerationEU programme through Erasmus+.

What is the NextGen Opportunity project?

NextGen Opportunity is a European research and action project working with partners across several countries to better understand the challenges young people face when accessing employment, training, and entrepreneurship opportunities.

In Ireland, our focus is on young people aged 16–30, particularly those living in rural areas or facing barriers such as limited job opportunities, lack of work experience, digital exclusion, or uncertainty about career pathways.

Why are we running this survey?

The survey gives young people the opportunity to:

  • Share their real experiences of looking for work or training

  • Highlight what is working well and what is not

  • Identify gaps in current supports and services

  • Influence future youth employability programmes and policies

The findings will be used to inform:

  • New training and employability initiatives

  • Local and national discussions on youth employment

  • Practical recommendations for improving access to opportunities

Who can take part?

You can take part if you:

  • Are aged 16–30

  • Live in Ireland

  • Want to have your say on employment and opportunities for young people

🕒 The survey is short and only takes a few minutes to complete.
