Inclusive Education: Teaching Migrant and Refugee Learners
Overview
Across Europe, classrooms are becoming increasingly diverse. Teachers and school staff are seeking practical, effective ways to support migrant and refugee learners while maintaining inclusive learning environments for all.
At Blackwater Training, we have designed this Erasmus+ Teacher Training course to provide you with the skills, strategies, and confidence to teach in multicultural, multilingual contexts.
This course combines hands-on workshops, intercultural dialogue, and cultural visits in rural Ireland to help you grow both professionally and personally.

Course Aims
By the end of this programme, participants will be able to:

Methodology
We believe teachers learn best by doing. This course uses:

Interactive workshops and group activities

Non-formal education methods such as role-play and storytelling

Peer reflection and project design

Cultural immersion as part of the learning experience
Sample Programme (6 Days)

Day 1 – Welcome, intercultural icebreakers, migration in Europe and Ireland

Day 2 – Language support and scaffolding in the classroom

Day 3 – Trauma-aware teaching and safe spaces

Day 4 – Tackling stereotypes, building empathy and inclusion

Day 5 – Designing inclusive lessons/projects, peer feedback

Day 6 – Cultural day: Visit to be discussed, certification and reflection.

Everything in the Training Only package, plus:
1 full-day cultural excursion (e.g. Trim Castle, Boyne Valley, Dublin City)
Guided cultural activities (music, heritage, storytelling, etc.)
Organised group reflection and networking during the cultural visit
Accommodation and airport transfers can be arranged upon request.
