Overview

In today's fast-changing world, schools are not just preparing learners for exams; they are preparing them for life. Skills such as creativity, initiative, problem-solving, and collaboration are essential for young people to thrive in the 21st century. Teachers have a vital role in nurturing these entrepreneurial mindsets in the classroom.

At Blackwater Training, we have designed this Erasmus+ Teacher Training course to equip educators with the tools and confidence to embed entrepreneurship and innovation into their teaching. Drawing inspiration from Irish rural enterprise, social innovation, and community development, the course blends hands-on workshops with case studies, project-based learning, and cultural experiences.

Course Aims

By the end of this programme, participants will be able to:

  • Integrate entrepreneurial thinking into classroom teaching.

  • Use project-based and problem-solving methods to inspire learners.

  • Explore real-world examples of Irish rural and social enterprises.

  • Support students to develop initiative, creativity, and leadership skills.

  • Connect classroom practice to the SDGs and local/global challenges.

Methodology

The course is practical and applied, using:

  • Interactive workshops on entrepreneurial pedagogy

  • Case studies from Irish rural and social enterprises

  • Project-based learning (designing school-based entrepreneurship projects)

  • Collaborative reflection and peer exchange

  • Cultural immersion as inspiration for teaching

Sample Programme (6 Days)

  • Day 1 – Introduction to Entrepreneurship in Education

  • Day 2 – Creativity, Problem-Solving, and Innovation Skills

  • Day 3 – Rural and Social Entrepreneurship in Action

  • Day 4 – Project-Based Learning and Student-Led Initiatives

  • Day 5 – Sharing and Action Planning

  • Day 6 – Cultural Day: Dublin City & Enterprise Tour

Outcomes

Participants will leave with:

  • Confidence to integrate entrepreneurship into teaching

  • Lesson plans and classroom projects to develop creativity and problem-solving

  • Inspiration from Irish rural and social entrepreneurship

  • A network of European peers focused on innovation in education

  • Certificate of attendance (Europass documentation available)

Practical Information

  • Duration: 6 days (5 training + 1 cultural visit)

  • Location: Baileborough, Co. Cavan (1 hour from Dublin)

  • Group size: 10–20 participants

  • Language: English

Fees

€400 per person – Training Only

  • 5 full training days (30 hours)

  • Training materials and resources

  • Tea/coffee breaks

  • Certificate of attendance (Europass documentation available)

€550 per person – Training + Cultural Package

  • Everything in the Training Only package, plus:

  • 1 full-day cultural excursion (e.g. Trim Castle, Boyne Valley, Dublin City)

  • Guided cultural activities (music, heritage, storytelling, etc.)

  • Organised group reflection and networking during the cultural visit

Accommodation and airport transfers can be arranged upon request.
