Storytelling is at the heart of great teaching. Today's classrooms demand more than textbooks, they need creativity, digital fluency, and the ability to connect learning to real-world experiences.

At Blackwater Training, we have designed this Erasmus+ Teacher Training course to give teachers practical skills in digital storytelling and creative classroom tools. From simple video editing to podcasts, Canva design, and gamification, you'll learn how to bring lessons to life and empower students to become creators, not just consumers.

Course Aims

By the end of this programme, participants will be able to:

• Reflect on how digital methods build 21st-century skills in students.

• Develop their own classroom-ready digital project.

• Apply gamification and interactive activities to engage learners.

• Integrate creative tools such as video, audio, and design platforms into teaching.

• Use digital storytelling techniques to enhance lessons across subjects.

Methodology

We focus on hands-on learning and creativity. The course uses:

• Practical workshops with free/accessible digital tools

• Project-based learning (participants create their own digital story)

• Peer collaboration and sharing best practices

• Cultural immersion to inspire new teaching ideas

Sample Programme (6 Days)

• Day 1 – Introduction to digital storytelling & creative education

• Day 2 – Video and photo tools for the classroom

• Day 3 – Podcasting, voice recording & audio storytelling

• Day 4 – Canva and design tools for education

• Day 5 – Gamification, escape rooms & interactive learning

• Day 6 – Cultural day: Visit to be discussed, certification and reflection

Outcomes

Participants will leave with:

• Confidence in using creative digital tools

• A finished classroom project (video, podcast, or digital story)

• Ready-to-use lesson ideas for digital storytelling

• Greater ability to engage students through creativity

Practical Information

• Duration: 6 days (5 training + 1 cultural visit)

• Location: Baileborough, Co. Cavan (1 hour from Dublin)

• Group size: 10–20 participants

• Language: English

Fees

€400 per person – Training Only

• 5 full training days (30 hours)

• Training materials and resources

• Tea/coffee breaks

• Certificate of attendance (Europass documentation available)

€550 per person – Training + Cultural Package

• Everything in the Training Only package, plus:

• 1 full-day cultural excursion (e.g. Trim Castle, Boyne Valley, Dublin City)

• Guided cultural activities (music, heritage, storytelling, etc.)

• Organised group reflection and networking during the cultural visit

Accommodation and airport transfers can be arranged upon request.
